Welcome to Happy Hooky! Nice of you to stop by.....
I'm Tricia and this is my first attempt at blogging! I'm learning as I go along, which is not bad for someone who has already turned 60! Another way to be creative!

I love making things, usually involving the use of one or two needles! I have loved knitting and crochet since I was a little girl about four years old and was taught by my lovely mum Margaret, who sadly passed away December 2013 aged 82. Mum could knit and crochet anything, with or without a pattern, and she did so throughout her entire life. In fact, the blanket she was working on during those last few weeks is here waiting to be finished..........

Unlike Margaret, I gave up knitting and hooky for many years when work, family and life in general took up lots of time and there always seemed to be 'more important' things to do. But when I took early retirement a few years ago I would watch my Mum busy with her projects and I remembered the pleasure I used to get from making special, personal things for my boys when they were small. So, I picked up the needles, hooks and yarns and got hooked all over again!

My passion is making colourful things for Little People, especially my 'hoodies' which I originally made as gifts and which were so admired by friends and family that I started to get 'commissions', even from strangers who stopped family members in the street to ask where they had bought the hoodie from! And so my Etsy shop 'Kids In The Hood' was born a year or two ago! Through Etsy I have sent my individual hoodies to Little People all over the world. However, our love of travel too often means that the shop is 'on vacation' while we are away or when I am concentrating on completing private commissions. For me tho' it's always been about the creating & making of the project - the shop is just an extra but not at all my focus.

My other love is crochet and I especially love crocheting pram or cot blankets, often to go with a hoodie that I've knit, and sometimes just as a project in itself. I love experimenting with colour and, whether pastel shades or brights, most of the things I make are a multi-coloured expression of joy!

If you're new here, so am I!! Stay, have a look around and watch me grow........ And please get in touch! Tricia xx
